Happy-Go-Lucky Celebration Tree: A DIY Project to Help You Celebrate Every Day
Taught by Amy Powers
Celebrate life every day of the year with an elegant Celebration Tree! The craft-tacular Amy Powers will help you craft a unique and beautiful potted tree using fallen branches from around your town (or found online).
Then, through detailed videos and downloadable handouts, she'll help you dress it up for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Halloween, as well as other holidays and occasions throughout the year!
Glitter acorns and gratitude spools will gladden your heart at Thanksgiving time, while pom-pom spiders and black-and-orange garlands will make you smile at Halloween. And let's not forget decorating it for Christmas, using a special ornament collection that you'd like to put on prominent display.
Join the happiest crafter around for a cheerful project that will make you smile the whole year through.
"Amy Powers is a super clever crafter with an endless supply of sunny, fun ideas for things to make—all of them brought to life with her cheerful sense of adventure and joyful spirit."

Supplies Needed for Celebration Tree:
• collected branches from nature walk or purchased branches
• Plaster of Paris
• disposable recycled container (plastic works best) for setting the tree (i.e., margarine tub or cottage cheese container)
• wide rubber band
• masking tape
• nice container for finished tree
• sheet moss
Note: Optional (but perhaps desirable for nature-walk collected branches): metallic paint (I like to use Liquid Leaf in Silver or Classic Gold) or gesso for white branches. To add glitter to the branches, you’ll need your favorite dry-clear craft glue, a disposable brush, and the glitter of your choice (I like to use Diamond Dust, available at most craft stores).
Supplies for Spider:
• yarn of your choice (I like to use narrow sock yarn)
• embroidery scissors (small sharp scissors)
• a fork
• small round beads for eyes
• needle and strong black thread
• fine paintbrush
• black paint
• 20 gauge black craft wire (found in jewelry supplies)
• flat pliers
• round nosed pliers
• 1” paper punch
• small scrap of paper
• silver cord or wire for hanging ornament
Supplies for Thanksgiving Spools:
• 20 wooden spools (purchased new if vintage are not available)
• “Gratitude” print out
• washi tape
• buttons (two per spool ornament= 40 total)
• baker’s twine
Supplies for Glittered Acorns:
• acorn caps (collected on nature walk or purchased online if not available locally)
• air dry clay (Crayola Air Dry Kid’s Clay works great)
• your favorite dry-clear craft glue (I prefer Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue – gold bottle)
• fine glitter in an assortment of lovely fall hues (Martha Stewart’s line is fabulous)
• ribbon
