ABOUT MONICA

Monica Bradford began her career as an elementary school teacher. After 12 years of tying shoes, wiping noses, and reading aloud she decided to stay home so she could tie shoes, wipe noses, and read aloud to her own two boys. Monica has been scrapbooking, in one form or another, since she was 8 years old. In 2010 she discovered the world of online scrapbooking and began her own blog. In 2012, she was chosen to serve on Ella Publishing’s Take Twelve design team. In addition, she has taught for the True Scrap franchise as well as classes on her own site, Scrap Inspired.

“The more I create, the more I teach…the more I believe that inspiration can be found anywhere! Sharing that inspiration with creative women around the world has become one of my passions!” –Monica

FAVORITE QUOTE

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

MONICA ANSWERS THE FIVE W's

Who are you?

Monica Bradford, inspired scrapbooker and loving mama.

What do you believe with all of your heart?

I believe that there is power in setting an intention for your life. And that you can create the life you want by keeping the focus on what is most important.

When did you know that this was your path?

Teaching has always been my path. Who and what I teach has evolved over the years as my passions have grown and changed. Finding a way to teach what I love while staying home with my family has been a dream come true.

Where is your favorite place on earth?

I’m not sure I’ve been there yet. I love the ocean, I love sitting in my driveway with the neighbors while the kids play, I love curling up in a comfy chair with a book, I love Broadway. I especially love knowing there are still many places left for me to explore in my quest to discover my favorite place on earth!

Why do you love your life?

I love my life because I get to spend every morning and afternoon with my boys and do lots of crafting in the hours in between. My schedule is flexible allowing me to put my family first, and that is truly a blessing.

How do you do everything you do?

Staying flexible and acknowledging that there is also lots that I don’t do (like 2 weeks of clean laundry still sitting in baskets waiting to be folded. Hey, at least it’s clean!). Each day I wake up, check my agenda, and then do a self-check of my energy level. I do the things I have to do, and adapt or adjust the things that can wait. No matter how busy my schedule I always take a little time each day just for me. Maintaining that balance is the only way I am able to continue to enjoy my job as well as my life.
