Inspired by Music

A favorite inspiration topic is music and it definitely is a huge inspiration in my life in many ways. The first thing that came into my head was listening to the radio in the car. Since I’ve lived in the city for the past nine years, I haven’t had a car of my own so getting into one and cranking up the radio is an absolute treat. I love it! Sometimes it’s listening to the latest pop music and having a full on dance party singing the lyrics at the top of your lungs (don’t you love catching someone in another car doing this?). And sometimes it’s putting on that sad soundtrack and just letting yourself wallow while you drive alone. Nothing can help change my attitude like music can—it’s such an inspiration.
Throughout the years I’ve created so many layouts inspired by music and my favorite songs, artists, or concerts. Using lyrics on my pages has always been a favorite thing of mine. You know when you find that right song that says exactly how you’re feeling? Get it documented on a layout or in your Project Life album. It’s cool how just one line can evoke a memory or emotion. Those songwriters—they are good. It’s also fun to look back and see what you were listening to at certain points in your life. I know there are songs that instantly transport me back to a specific time or place and it’s great to go back over those songs you cherished.
My layout Be OK is inspired by my all-time favorite artist, Ingrid Michaelson. I’ve adored her for years and have been so lucky to see her in concert many times. I had this photo taken from a spot in Brooklyn and knew it would be perfect to bring in some simple lyrics from one of my favorite Ingrid songs. I stamped the letters and then cut them out then added the stickers. The lyrics are “I just want to be OK, be OK, be OK” and I felt like the scattered words match the staccato sound of the song.
