Make a Word Banner
I decided that I needed a pop of color above my desktop and decided to make a bright word banner, and better, decided to photograph the steps so I could share with you how to do one also.
Gather supplies including
- patterned paper (preferably scaled down like these journaling cards from October Afternoon)
- trim
- letters
- embellishments
To make the banner pieces sturdier I layered chipboard scraps + foam adhesive + patterned paper rectangles giving the banner weight and dimension.
Next decide how long you want your banner to be by laying it all out. Once I saw how long I wanted it then I picked chipboard letters and paper to cover the letters. Next I finalized the trim to string the banner a simple chain.
Time to punch holes in the patterned paper banner pieces and start placing embellishments. Before I string everything I like to look at it laid out, I then edit the embellishments until I am happy with the look.
Next I string it and one trick I have learned is to start with the middle piece and work out. Finally it is done and I hang it up to enjoy!
Your turn to make a word banner for your creative space, as home decor, or just to add a spot of color to a place that needs it.
