Crayons to Color Wheels

Crayons to Color Wheels: Discover exciting new color combos to inspire your scrapbook pages

Taught by Monica Bradford

When you flip open the top of a new Crayola box, a world of creative possibilities greets you. Learn to translate the magical color combinations found inside that box—from tickle-me pink and robin's egg blue, to dandelion and forest green—and apply them to your scrapbook pages.

In Monica Bradford's Crayons to Color Wheels, you'll not only get a fun new perspective on color and creativity, you'll also walk away with 15 fabulous color combos to try today and 10 inspiring layout examples from Monica, Stacy Julian, Nic Howard, Wendy Smedley, and Dani Frederick.

Consider this question: what principles guide the way Crayola crayons are organized inside that box? They're not grouped in monochromatic color families, nor do they follow the ROYGBIV rainbow pattern, and they're not arranged in alphabetical order, either. Something much more inspiring is at work inside that box, and longtime scrapbooker and former elementary-school teacher Monica Bradford is here to help you unlock the mystery.

A Note From Monica

My goal in Crayons to Color Wheels is to show you that big inspiration can come from small and simple places. Creating amazing color combinations for scrapbook pages can be as simple as opening a crayon box. As you know, when it comes to color, scrapbooking, creativity, and especially life—there are no rules! But there are magical new ways of seeing things, if you know where to look. So let's take a new look at color, together!

Crayons to Color Wheels includes:

  • Video message from Monica
  • Process video of one layout from start to finish
  • Colorful instructional handouts featuring 15 color combinations and 10 sample layouts
  • Printable swatch book of color combinations to inspire your scrapbooking
  • Welcome note from Monica in the classroom
  • Supply list with live links to product resources
  • Private posting gallery to share your work and view the work of your classmates
  • INCLUDES
  • Instant access
  • Private online classroom

Within the classroom, each layout will have a detailed supply list. For this supply list, I encourage you to pull from your stash and/or have a little shopping fun (links provided for on-line purchases). And, you now have a good reason to purchase a new box of crayons for yourself!

To prepare for Monica’s class, please gather the following:

  • a basic tool kit.
  • a box of crayons. (I like the Crayola brand best.)
  • pattern papers. (In colors you love.)
  • embellishments. (In colors you love.)

Bring your inner child to the classroom and let’s get creating with color!

A "How-To Project" is a step-by-step eCourse that you can complete at your own pace. Comprised of video or audio files, PDF downloads, supply lists, and more, these eCourses take the guesswork out of planning and completing a creative project. This classroom will be available for access and download in your account until January 31, 2015.

Just follow the instructor's lead, add your own creativity and perspective, and then upload your finished project to the private gallery included in the online classroom.

How-To Projects do not include a message board to chat with fellow students or live interaction from the instructor. But you can always interact with us by emailing admin@bigpictureclasses.com. Enjoy!
